What this site does
How Rare Is My makes birthday, first-name and surname statistics easy to look up and share. A result identifies its source, year and comparison group. A missing value stays unknown. We do not turn incomplete data into an invented “one of a kind” result.
The site is an independent project. It is not affiliated with the U.S. Census Bureau, the Social Security Administration or FiveThirtyEight. Read the methodology for source attribution and calculations, or try the birthday calculator, first-name lookup and surname lookup.
What comes next
New rarity questions need a dataset that can answer them. We look for public counts with a defined population, clear reuse terms and enough context to make a comparison meaningful. Popularity on social media alone is not a source of statistical evidence. We do not estimate appearance, health, ancestry or a person’s worth from an image or a name.
